About collection:
All rotary coupes mazda ever made
The collection consists of 12 Mazda cars with rotary engines. This is the complete lineup of models produced by Mazda brand in a coupe body style, covering the period from 1967 to 2013. Mazda's rotary history includes more than 13 models and all body types, including a bus. But the idea was to create a concise yet complete collection. Therefore, the choice was made in favor of the most elegant body type — coupe , which features the most interesting rotary models, from the very first to the very last.
This collection demonstrates the unique path of the Japanese automaker, which made a huge bet on the innovative Wankel engine and, despite a large number of (technical and other) difficulties, managed to achieve success. At the same time, all other major automakers (Mercedes, Alfa Romeo, Porsche, General Motors, Toyota, etc.) who also purchased a license for the Wankel engine, were unable to make it work and did not launch a single car with a rotary engine into series production.
This collection also perfectly illustrates the evolution of the automotive industry over almost half a century. It shows trends in design, the evolution of technology, and the using of new materials.
It took about 5 years to find and purchase all these cars and about the same amount of time to restore them. Today it is impossible to find similar specimens and bring them to factory condition. Every year, such cars become fewer and they very rarely come up for open sale. There are 4 similar collections in the world (in the USA, Germany, Japan, and Australia), while in Russia, most of these cars exist as single specimens.
The restoration, maintenance, and storage of the cars were carried out by the MSK Classics workshop in accordance with the highest international standards. All cars are operational, with proper documents and registration plates.
